The challenge
The challenges companies face today.
Software that works in demos, not in production
Developing software is easy. Developing software that holds up under real load, integrates with existing systems and doesn't break after 6 months is another matter entirely. Experience makes the difference.
Accumulated technical debt
Every shortcut taken today is a future cost. Undocumented architectures, unmanaged dependencies, no tests: technical debt doesn't disappear, it grows. And eventually you pay for it.
AI integrated poorly or not at all
LLMs added as marketing features, not operational tools. GPT-4 without governance, without audit logs, without secure architecture. AI that promises and doesn't deliver in production.
External teams with no continuity
Agencies that disappear at go-live, no documentation, knowledge that doesn't stay in the company. Software is an asset — it must be transferable, maintainable and evolutive.
How we work
A structured path for measurable results.
Analysis and Architecture
We analyse the domain, functional and non-functional requirements, and existing integrations. We design the target architecture with documented choices. Zero ambiguity before writing code.
Agile Development
2-week sprints with client demos. Clean code, automated tests, systematic code reviews. The client sees progress and can correct direction early.
CI/CD and Deployment
Automated pipelines on Azure DevOps for fast and safe deployments. Separate development, staging and production environments. Planned go-live with rollback ready if needed.
Support and Evolution
Go-live is the beginning. We offer ongoing support, performance monitoring, security updates and development of new features that the business requires over time.

Deep dive
AI-Augmented Software: Faster, Same Enterprise Quality
Building quality software takes experience. Today it also requires AI. Since 2024, our senior engineers use AI tools throughout every phase of the development cycle: architectural design, scaffolding, code review, automated testing, documentation. The practical result: working prototype in 2 weeks from kickoff, production go-live in 6 months. Reduced timelines and costs — without cutting corners on quality, governance or security.
The Modern AI Apps team works with .NET, React and Azure Native to build cloud-native applications. AI isn’t an add-on: it’s part of our development process, enabling us to deliver more, faster.
Microsoft Technology Stack
C# / .NET Core — Our server-side language of choice since the first versions of the Microsoft framework. Robust APIs, microservices, enterprise applications: .NET is the foundation of every complex project.
ReactJS — Our primary front-end framework for Single Page Applications. Fast, componentised and maintainable interfaces. We also use Razor and Blazor for specific scenarios.
Azure Native — We design applications that leverage Azure’s managed services: App Service, Functions, Container Apps, Service Bus, Cosmos DB. Cloud-native architectures that scale automatically and minimise operational costs.
SharePoint Framework (SPFx) — With 10+ years of SharePoint experience, we develop SPFx web parts and extensions that extend Microsoft 365 natively, in a supported and upgradeable way.
AI Integration in Business Software
Modern software development on the Microsoft stack increasingly passes through artificial intelligence. We integrate GPT-4, Claude and Azure OpenAI into business applications: operational chatbots, document processing, content generation, predictive analytics — always with a secure and auditable architecture.
Methodology and Process
We work with Scrum methodology and DevOps practices. Every project starts with an in-depth analysis of the domain and requirements, proceeds with planned sprints and regular client demos, and concludes with an assisted go-live and a stabilisation period.
Automated CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps guarantee fast deployments, continuous testing and no surprises in production.
Software Development in Italy
Dev4Side’s Modern AI Apps team is based in Milan and Pesaro and serves Italian companies across manufacturing, fashion, finance and professional services — as well as international organisations that need development capacity aligned with Italian operations, compliance requirements and time zones.
We work entirely in Italian or English and are used to the specific challenges Italian companies face: integrating with Italian management software (Zucchetti, TeamSystem, SAP Italy configurations), complying with Italian data protection requirements, and building systems that work reliably in Italian enterprise IT environments.
How AI Reduces Development Time and Cost
Since 2024, AI is part of our development process — not just the products we deliver. Our engineers use AI tools to accelerate scaffolding, testing, documentation and code review: tasks that used to take days now take hours. Architectural judgement, design decisions and code ownership remain human.
The practical effect for clients: less time from kickoff to prototype, fewer billable hours on repetitive tasks, same enterprise quality level. It is not speed at the expense of robustness — it is the same robustness, delivered faster.
On the product side, we integrate AI where it generates real value: document processing, semantic search, decision support, anomaly detection. With secure architecture, audit logs and enterprise governance included by default.
Why us
Microsoft Gold Partner for 15 years. Vertical on your industry.
Faster because of AI, not in spite of it
Our engineers use AI to deliver more: architectural judgement stays human, execution speed is AI-powered. Working prototype in 2 weeks, in production in 6. Same quality, less time, lower costs.
AI integrated where it generates real value
We don't sell AI as a marketing feature. We integrate GPT-4, Claude and Azure OpenAI where it genuinely accelerates the business: document automation, semantic search, decision support. With enterprise governance included.
Documentation and knowledge transfer
Every project closes with technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge transfer to the internal team. Software remains a company asset, not a vendor dependency.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What industries do you develop software for? +
We have delivered production software for manufacturing, fashion, finance, healthcare, and professional services. We adapt our approach to each sector's specific compliance and integration requirements, including Italian regulatory frameworks.
What is your typical project size and duration? +
Most of our software projects run between 3 and 12 months and involve 2 to 5 developers. Smaller projects (custom integrations, API development, SPFx web parts) can be completed in 4 to 8 weeks. Larger enterprise applications run 9 to 18 months. We scope every project carefully upfront to avoid scope creep.
Do you offer fixed-price or time-and-materials contracts? +
We offer both. Fixed-price works well for clearly defined scopes with stable requirements. Time-and-materials is more appropriate for complex projects where requirements evolve — the client gets full transparency on activity and can reprioritise at each sprint. Most long-term clients work on a time-and-materials retainer model.
How do you handle software maintenance after go-live? +
We offer a post-go-live support and evolution service: bug fixes with defined SLAs, security updates, platform compatibility maintenance, and ongoing feature development. Clients who want continuous evolution typically work with us on a monthly development retainer with a defined number of sprint days per month.
What is your approach to code quality and testing? +
We apply clean code principles, SOLID design patterns, and Domain-Driven Design on complex business logic. Every project includes unit tests on critical business logic and integration tests on API boundaries. We use automated CI/CD pipelines with test gates — code cannot be promoted to staging or production if tests fail.
Can you integrate our software with Microsoft 365 and Azure? +
Yes — this is one of our deepest specialisations. We develop SPFx web parts and extensions for SharePoint, Teams applications and bots, Power Platform custom connectors, Azure-native backends that serve M365 frontends, and Microsoft Graph integrations.
Do you develop mobile applications? +
We develop Progressive Web Apps and hybrid mobile applications using ReactJS with mobile-first design, as well as Power Apps canvas apps for scenarios within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. For native iOS/Android applications with specific device capabilities, we typically recommend specialist mobile development partners.
How do you handle intellectual property and source code ownership? +
All source code developed for a client belongs to the client upon full payment. We do not retain proprietary rights to bespoke code. We provide the full Git repository at project close, with complete commit history. Reusable components and frameworks we develop independently remain our intellectual property, but clients receive a perpetual licence to use them within the delivered application.
